Fiat Ducato X250 vs X290: identifying your Ducato, Boxer or Relay
The Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Relay are the same van underneath — but the X250 and X290 platforms take different parts, and 2014 is the messy changeover year. Here's how to be sure which you have.
X250 — 2006 to 2014
The third-generation platform launched in 2006. Distinguish it by the older front-end design with smaller headlights and the pre-facelift dashboard. Shop X250 parts.
X290 — 2014 onwards
The heavy 2014 facelift: new front panels, larger swept-back headlights, updated interior — and different part numbers across most of the front end. All current Ducato/Boxer/Relay vans are X290-based. Shop X290 parts.
The 2014 trap
Both platforms were registered during 2014. The certain check is the VIN (door-frame plate or windscreen base) — or simply look at the front: small headlights with a separate grille = X250; large angular headlights flowing into the grille = X290.
