Honda and Yamaha part numbers explained: how to decode an OEM number and order the exact part

Every genuine Honda or Yamaha part carries a factory part number — and that number tells you more than most people realise. Learn to read it and you can order the exact right part for your exact bike, every time, without guessing from photos. Every listing on our site shows the OEM number, so this guide makes our whole catalogue easier to use.

Honda part numbers: three blocks

A Honda number looks like 17210-K1Z-CA0 and splits into three blocks:

• 17210 — the function code: what the part is. 17210 is an air cleaner element wherever you see it; 06455 is a front brake pad set; 23100 is a drive belt. Once you know a function code, you can find the same part across different models.
• K1Z — the model/generation code: which bike it was designed for. K1Z is the PCX 125 2021–2024; K97 is the PCX 2018–2020; K0R is the SH125i 2020 on; K2C is the Vision 110 2021 on; K44 and KZL are earlier Visions.
• CA0 — the variant/revision suffix — colour, supplier or update revision.

That middle block is why our listings and collections are organised by generation code — it's Honda's own language for "which bike".

Yamaha part numbers: model code first

Yamaha runs it the other way round: 2DP-E7641-00.

• 2DP — the model code: 2DP is the NMAX 125 2015 generation, B6H the NMAX 2021 on, B74 the XMAX 300, BEJ the XMAX 125.
• E7641 — the function block (this one's in the drive/clutch area).
• 00 — the revision suffix.

Some Yamaha numbers use a five-digit first block (like 93102-35805, an oil seal) — these are standard components shared across many models.

1. Best: read the number off the old part — most panels, filters and castings have it moulded or printed on.
2. Search our site by the number — every genuine part we list carries its OEM number in the title, so pasting the number into the search box takes you straight there.

A note on "pattern" numbers

Aftermarket parts are often listed against the OEM number they replace — that's normal and correct.
